Applications:
1) Manufacture of glass
Reduces the melting temperature of the sand used in glass formation.
2) Production of chemicals
Such as sodium silicate, sodium bicarbonate and percarbonate, and sodium chromate and dichromate.
3) Pulp and paper manufacture, Leather etc.
4) Water treatment, effluent treatment, metallurgy, drugs, flue gas desulfurization.
5) Food additive
As an acidity regulator, anti-caking agent, raising agent and stabilizer, used to replace lye-water.
The crust of traditional Cantonese moon cakes, and Chinese steamed buns and noodles.
6) Production of snus (Swedish-style snuff) and sherbet powder.
